เดือนเมษายน หรือซัมเมอร์ที่ทาสรอคอยได้มาถึงแล้วพร้อมกับวันหยุดยาวที่จะใช้เวลาอยู่บ้านเล่นกับน้องแมวให้หนำใจ แต่ร้อนขนาดนี้ ทั้งทาสทั้งเจ้านาย ไม่ไหวจะร่าเริง มาดูสัญญาณอันตรายในหน้าร้อนเพื่อป้องกันไม่ให้น้องแมวเป็นฮีทสโตรก (heatstroke) กันเถอะ

เนื่องจากน้องแมวไม่สามารถระบายความร้อนออกจากร่างกายได้เหมือนกับคนเราที่มีต่อมเหงื่ออยู่ทั่วทั้งร่างกายเพื่อระบายเอาความร้อนออกมา โดยที่น้องแมวจะมีต่อมเหงื่ออยู่แค่ที่จมูกและฝ่าเท้า น้องแมวจะหอบหายใจ และหาที่เย็น ๆ เพื่อระบายความร้อน แถมขนยาว ๆ ของบางสายพันธุ์ก็ยิ่งทำให้ร้อนมากขึ้นไปอีก ทาสอย่างเราก็ต้องคอยดูแลหาของมาช่วยคลายร้อน ทำให้บ้านมีอากาศถ่ายเท มีมุมให้หลบร้อน และที่สำคัญคือ มีน้ำดื่มสะอาด ๆ เตรียมไว้อยู่เสมอ

สัญญาณที่บ่งบอกว่าน้องแมวกำลังเสี่ยงเป็นฮีทสโตรก
- มีอาการหอบหายใจอย่างหนัก
- น้ำลายไหล
- หงุดหงิดงุ่นง่าน (เดินไปเดินมา)
- ลิ้นและเหงือกมีสีแดงจัด หรือซีดจัด
- หัวใจเต้นเร็ว
- หายใจไม่สะดวก
- อาเจียน หรือท้องเสีย (อาจปนเลือด)
- ไม่ค่อยขยับเขยื้อน ซึม ตัวสั่น
- ฉี่น้อย หรืออาจไม่ฉี่เลย

ถ้าหากน้องแมวมีอาการข้างต้นล่ะก็ แนะนำให้รีบปฐมพยาบาล และรีบพาไปพบสัตวแพทย์โดยทันที

วิธีการปฐมพยาบาลน้องแมวเป็นฮีทสโตรกเบื้องต้น
พาน้องแมวออกมาจากที่ที่มีอุณภูมิสูง
ใช้สเปรย์ฉีกละอองน้ำ หรือน้ำลูบตัว และ พัดลมให้ความร้อนหายไปให้มากที่สุด
ห้ามใช้น้ำแข็ง หรือน้ำเย็นจัด จะทำให้ส่งผลเสียมากขึ้น

ถึงแม้น้องแมวจะมีท่าทางดีขึ้นและดูเหมือนจะฟื้นตัวได้เอง ก็ควรพาไปพบสัตวแพทย์ เพื่อวินิจฉัยอาการ ป้องกันไม่ให้เกิดอันตรายขึ้นในภายหลัง
ทาสดูแลเจ้านายแล้ว ก็อย่าลืมดูแลตัวเองด้วย หน้าร้อนนี้ดื่มน้ำกันให้มากๆ อย่าตากแดดนาน ๆ หรือการออกกำลังกายหนัก ๆ ในสภาพอากาศร้อนจัดก็ควรงดเว้นนะ
